Route will be similar to the Hella Chill 1000km route.
This event will have a Thursday night start similar to a 90 hour PBP start.
Our goal is to give all riders a similar experience to PBP to help prepare you for the PBP 2027.
Will there be dropbags or other support? No. This is consistent with most rider's experience on PBP. While you can certainly access a drop bag on PBP, the logistics of a dropbag encourage many participants to find creative solutions to make due. If you wish to have a drop bag, one method we recommend is sending yourself a spare kit with a self addressed prepaid label to the overnights. This will give you access to the "bare essentials" without having to carry them or rely upon a drop bag. We practiced this on the Spring 1000km with 100% success.
Tentative route will look something like this: Overnights in Shallotte and Cheraw
Here's the thumbnail sketch for the event:
Day 1 - 313.7 miles / 505km to Shallotte. It is going to be one hell of a long night. If you plan to register for the for 90 hours alloted for PBP, you will have an evening start time similar to this. Some riders sleep at PBP after +/-400km. Some make it all the way Brest after 600km. Some don't even make it through the first night without sleep. Others don't sleep for 2 days till they get off their saddle. One of the beautiful things about PBP is that there's no wrong way to do it. The important things is that you simply do it. This event will be designed for riders to complete 505km before sleep but it's your choice how you do it.
Day 2 - 151.5 miles / 243.8 to Cheraw. This is a short day! A welcomed break from the big push throught the first night. The goal is to arrive in Cheraw with ample time for a good meal; easily achievable if you leave in time for the sunrise. The sunrise on Sunset Beach, NC occurs at 7:09am on October 2, 2026. It's 20km to the beach. Leave by 6am for a spectacular sunrise at Sunset Beach. Recommended goal is to arrive at Fiesta Tapatia in time for dinner before they close at 10pm. You won't believe me when I tell you how nice the Econolodge in Cheraw is. Enjoy a great dinner and some R&R.
Day 3 - 159.75 mile / 257.1 km the Gaffney. Another reasonably short day. It gets a bit lumpy on the return but most riders will appreciate the opportunity to stand allowing the use of forgotten muscles and relieve pressure on the hind end.
